The 2025 NFL Draft is full of surprises, with many rising stars being snubbed from the first round despite their strong college records. One of those names is Mizzou wide receiver Luther Burden III, who was also expected to be a first-round pick.
This shows just how competitive the first draft round has been this year. However, the SEC standout’s frustration was clear in his Instagram post after his first-round slide.

Luther Burden III’s Bold Reaction to First-Round Snub in the 2025 NFL Draft
Former Missouri Tigers wide receiver Luther Burden III didn’t hear his name called during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night. It was a tough moment for a player many thought would be a sure-fire Round 1 pick.
This surprising snub definitely hurt his draft stock, but he didn’t have to wait long, with the Chicago Bears selecting at the top of Round 2. Regrettably, the selection of only four wide receivers in the first round this year had nothing to do with strong competition.

His reaction felt very real and was quickly noticed on social media just hours after the first round ended. Burden posted a photo of himself doing a midnight workout at Missouri’s practice facility. The image, captioned “Ima show dey ahh,” quickly went viral, showing Burden’s frustration and determination to prove his doubters wrong.
He later deleted the caption, but the photo remains on his profile. The community was quick to share their support for “Touchdown Luther,” giving him hope as he awaits his name to be called in Round Two of the NFL Draft.
What’s Next for Burden?
Some anonymous NFL scouts have raised doubts about Luther Burden’s practice habits and maturity because of the unexpected snub. But Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz stood by his player. He said the star receiver has never had any issues or caused trouble.
The Bears needed some youth in their WR room, with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore leading the group. Of course, Rome Odunze is in tow, but with Caleb Williams slinging the rock, the Bears clearly want to air it out.

LB3 has a similar skill set to Moore’s — he’s a three-level threat who is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Chicago’s offense just got that much scarier.
