‘This Will Be Hilarious When It Falls Apart’—Fans Explode After 4-Star WR Luc Weaver Commits to USC

The USC Trojans are experiencing significant success in their recruitment efforts. They’ve already landed nearly 30 verbal commitments for this cycle, and their latest addition, wide receiver Luc Weaver, is creating a buzz on social media. However, USC locked the 4-star WR in before he could explore those options.

However, not everyone is convinced that his addition is a win that will last. While some Trojans fans celebrate, skeptics are flooding social media with doubts about USC’s ability to translate elite recruits into championship success.

USC Lands 4-Star Wide Receiver Luc Weaver Over Washington, Minnesota, and UCLA in Major 2025 Recruiting Win

Luc Weaver, a standout wide receiver from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, has committed to USC. The Trojans wasted no time securing his commitment. After offering him on April 24, they locked him in just over a week later. Weaver is now the 27th player to join USC’s 2026 class.

The 4-star WR is also excited to be a Trojan. He shared his thoughts with 247Sports, saying, “They are building something special. After they shared their vision for me, I had no doubt I wanted to be a part of it. I loved the culture when I visited… USC is a place that feels special.”

Recruiting analysts are already calling him a major get. Greg Biggins of 247Sports praised Weaver, saying, “He’s easily among the top pass catchers out West and has a nice combination of size, speed and body control… can bully opposing corners at the line of scrimmage who try and press him and does a nice job using his body to shield and create separation down the field.”

However, not all fans are sold on the move. Some are skeptical about USC’s ability to turn top recruits into on-field success. While Lincoln Riley has built a strong recruiting class, critics worry that USC’s shift to the Big Ten may expose weaknesses in the program.

One fan wrote, “This will be hilarious when it all falls apart.” Many others share similar concerns, questioning whether USC can live up to the hype. With the Trojans nearing their 30th commitment for the 2026 class, some fans are even predicting they will sign up to 40 recruits.

There’s also some chatter about Weaver’s high school background. Since he played at Notre Dame High School, some fans expected him to commit to Notre Dame University, a historic rival of USC. That surprise has sparked debate among college football fans and left the community somewhat divided.
