Superstar Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history after signing a deal to retain him with his college QB in Cincinnati. His former college took to social media to congratulate him on the feat.

Ja’Marr Chase Adds Another Accolade To His Resume With Record Deal
There has been a lot of noise this offseason regarding the Cincinnati Bengals and what they will do after missing out on the NFL playoffs. WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have been one of the best offensive duos in recent years, and after weeks of contract discussion, both are staying with the Bengals for the foreseeable future.
It was reported on Sunday, March 16, that Chase was signing a four-year, $161 million deal, $112 million of which is guaranteed. This makes him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, taking the title away from division rival Myles Garratt after the EDGE signed a huge deal this offseason, as well.
Chase’s alma mater, the LSU Tigers, congratulated him on Instagram as he added another accolade to his already impressive resume throughout his football career.

“Biletnikoff winner, national champion, first-round pick, offensive rookie of the year, and now the highest-paid non-QB…Ever. Keep making history uno,” the post read.
Chase’s college career lasted only two years, but that simply shows just how talented he was. In 2018, as a true freshman, he played in 14 games, registering 23 receptions for 313 yards and three touchdowns. In 2019, he led the FBS with 1780 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns.
LSU would go on to win the College Football Playoff National Championship that year, with Chase going off for 221 yards against the Clemson Tigers in the title game. He was also awarded the Fred Biletnikoff Award for best receiver and was a unanimous All-American.
He opted out of the 2020 season at LSU in order to concentrate on his NFL career. The WR was the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, going for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns, seeing him named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Since entering the league, he has gone from strength to strength, putting up 1046, 1216 and most recently a 1708 yard season. Chase has four Pro Bowl selections to his name, First-team All-Pro and Second-team All-Pro selections as well.
Higgins and Chase are an elite duo. The latter’s former college quarterback, Joe Burrow, throws them the ball, and he was vocal about the two WRs getting their money. Per ESPN, Burrow said, “We have several guys like Chase who have stepped up for us and deserved to be paid.”
Higgins agreed to a four-year, $115 million deal with the first two years guaranteed. This makes the pairing the highest-paid WR duo in the NFL, passing Miami Dolphins WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The Bengals will be desperate to improve in 2025 and return to the NFL playoffs. Having your three big offensive pieces tied down is a great start. What they do defensively now is the big question, with them really struggling in 2024 and now having less money to spend in the rest of free agency.
Chase continues making history, and this coming season, he will look to continue adding accolades and awards as he continues to become one of the most decorated WRs in the league.
