While LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier recovers from his abdominal injury, his fiancée, Ella Springfield, is playing dress up with her dog. The dog named Ace is a cherished member of the family, and is often part of couple’s social media activity.
On Friday, ahead of LSU’s game against Western Kentucky, Ella captured her furry pet in a tiger-stripe hoodie, while writing in the caption:
“Sorry Mike you have been replaced.”

Ella Springfield might be suggesting that this weekend she’ll enjoy the LSU game with her fiancé instead of Ace.
In the latest update, Garrett Nussmeier, who was dealing with a lingering abdominal injury, re-aggravated it during a practice ahead of the upcoming game versus Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Interim head coach Frank Wilson confirmed that he won’t play on Saturday.
“He will not participate,” Wilson said. “Garrett is a no-go.”
This will mark his second straight game when Nussmeier won’t play this season. However, he will have and Ace give company to him while rooting for LSU.

Garrett Nussmeier And Ella Springfield Took Major Step In Relationship
Garrett Nussmeier and Ella Springfield met at LSU during the quarterback’s freshman season. After four years of dating, they got engaged in July 2025.
Ella shared black and white glimpses from Nussmeier’s proposal, where the quarterback can be seen going down on one knee to pop the marriage question. Springfield appears to be surprised and amazed at the same time. The proposal took place near a beach.
“Forever and always, yes yes yes. “I have found the one whom my soul loves.” -Song of Solomon 3:4,” Springfield captioned the post.

Their dog Ace was also there when the proposal happened. Springfield included several more photos from the engagement.
Ella graduated from LSU, earning a degree in marketing. Before and during her time at LSU, she interned in marketing, media, and sales roles.
It remains to be seen when the two decide to tie the knot.
