LSU is currently in chaos after the firing of now-former head coach Brian Kelly and now-former Athletic Director Scott Woodward. However, with the coming of Halloween, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier found some time to relax with fiancee Ella Springfield. While the couple did not dress up in costumes themselves, they did have their dog dress up as a banana and were all smiles as they enjoyed the occasion.
“Happy Halloween,” Ella Springfield greeted.

Ella Springfield is an LSU alum, meeting her fiancee in the school during their freshman year in 2021. She soon became a common sight during LSU games as she continued to cheer for her then-boyfriend. Nussmeier then took the knee and proposed to her in July of this year, with her saying yes.
Springfield regularly features Nussmeier in her social media accounts, often sharing gameday snaps with one another. She calls him her “best friend” and has grown very close to him. When she is not with Garrett Nussmeier, she works as a social media director for Social Insecurity, a Dallas-based company.
Currently, LSU has been struggling, though majority of the blame did not fall upon Nussmeier, with former head coach Brian Kelly getting fired after a 5-3 start to the season. He was fired shortly after that 25-49 loss at home against No. 3 Texas State, with LSU falling out of the rankings after a strong 4-0 start before dropping three of their next four games, including that loss against Texas A&M.

LSU Interim Coach Reveals Garrett Nussmeier Status in QB Role After Brian Kelly Firing
Because Brian Kelly was dismissed, there has been a lot of questions that popped up, including ones surrounding Garrett Nussmeier’s role as QB1 at LSU. Kelly’s former assistant coach, Frank Wilson, has taken up the mantle of interim head coach, and he addressed Nussmeier’s status as QB1 in a press conference.
“Fair question. I think Garrett is our starting quarterback,” the interim coach said. “I think he gives us a great opportunity to be efficient with our offense. I think Michael has a skill set that adds value to our football team that will be called upon that can help us win the game.”
He was talking about Michael Van Buren, who briefly replaced Nussmeier as QB1. LSU is currently on a bye week and will take on Alabama next on Nov. 9.
