LSU Insider Weighs In on Brian Kelly’s Punishment for LSU RB JT Lindsey Following Arrest

LSU insider Matt Moscona takes a pretty good guess on the future of running back JT Lindsey with Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers following his arrest less than two weeks into fall camp.

The university police took Lindsey into custody on Friday after an arrest warrant was issued for two felony counts of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. The running back is alleged to have allowed two murder suspects to stay in his LSU’s Nicholson Gateway dorm for nearly two weeks. The suspects, named 17-year-old Shemell Jacobs and 18-year-old Keldrick Jordan, are said to be from his hometown of Alexandria.

Amid this, on Saturday’s Locked on LSU podcast, insider Moscona was pretty blunt, saying that Lindsey will need to be suspended.

“JT Lindsey, who has been charged with a felony. It is right to assume, given LSU’s handbook stated code, that he would be suspended from all team activities,” Moscona said. (16:35)

Moscona drew reference from a past incident involving Trey Holly, who signed with LSU in 2023, but, after being charged for illegal use of a gun and property in February 2024, in his hometown of Farmerville, he transferred to Southern the following July.

“Trey Holly transferred to Southern University,” Moscona added. “The reason he had to transfer to Southern is that LSU has a policy whereby if a student is charged with a felony, then he is suspended indefinitely. So, Trey Holly, after being charged with a felony, was suspended indefinitely from all team activities.”

Latest on JT Lindsey’s arrest for harboring two suspects for second-degree murder

According to Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated, authorities have found multiple firearms, including two AR-15 rifles, a Draco, and a Glock, in JT Lindsey’s dorm room, where the two suspects allegedly stayed for two weeks. Even if not proven for accessory to murder, this alone violates LSU campus weapons policy on JT Lindsey’s part.

Meanwhile, Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, defended his client, saying he had no involvement in the alleged crime, nor was the running back aware of the criminal status of the two suspects named.

Meanwhile, for the Tigers, as JT Lindsey is expected to be suspended, it will leave them dangerously thin in the backfield. The running back room now features Caden Durham, Kaleb Jackson, and freshman Harlem Berry. Any additional injuries could hamper LSU’s ground game. The position is a concern, as last season the team was ranked 107th in rushing offense.
