Lincoln Riley Impressed by Husan Longstreet’s Work Ethic

After flipping his commitment from Texas A&M, Longstreet has wasted no time making his mark at USC. He’s quickly picking up Riley’s complex offensive scheme, impressing coaches with his athleticism and ability to process information and make sharp decisions.

Riley has noticed Longstreet’s mentality and mentioned the freshman’s intense love for the game in comments to ON3’s Pete Nakos.

“He works really hard at it, and it’s fun to coach guys who’re just a football guy,” Riley said. “Husan doesn’t have a million other interests off the field — he loves ball. He’s up at the facility all the time. He’s just really into it.”

Longstreet has been working with the coaching staff to fine-tune his mechanics and gain a stronger command of the offense. QB’s coach, Luke Huard, also praised his attitude, pointing to his eagerness to grow and willingness to grind.

As a senior at Centennial High School, Longstreet had 1,641 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, rushing for 494 yards and six more scores, a true dual-threat QB with the potential to thrive in Riley’s system.
