Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has dealt with plenty of health scares over the years. On Monday, he revealed that he underwent bladder removal surgery because of a cancerous tumor discovered on his bladder. However, he has also dealt with blood clot issues over the years.
Someone who has been with him through most of his health issues in recent years is Colorado trainer Lauren Askevold. On Saturday, she appeared on “Raw Room” and shared some insight into his past health emergencies.
“You know, he suffered some of the blood clot things. So, that was 10 surgeries,” Lauren Askevold said (Timestamp 4:50). “Then we got here and he had two more. So, he’s had 12 surgeries now, like total. So, you know, like I think I just became, I mean, like as much as I’m invested in the football team, I’m also invested just in like his health. You don’t realize that when you’re sitting with somebody in a room and it’s like, hey, uh, you’re going, you might have to lose that leg.
“Or you might have to lose from the knee down or now it’s just you might lose a foot. And then it was, okay, this is a little more serious, like you might lose you could lose your life. Like when you’re sitting with someone and you actually like hear that it’s like, in the room, it kind of hits you like whoa. So like yes, I have to massage his foot about two to three times a day. The whole internet thinks I have a foot fetish but I’m a little invested in that foot, you know what I mean?”
The video then showed a clip of Askevold massaging Coach Prime’s foot, which she pointed out is missing two toes.

Deion Sanders Inspires His Players By Returning to His Coaching Duties
There was speculation that Deion Sanders could take a step back from his coaching duties when a medical press conference was announced for Monday. However, Coach Prime shut down those rumors by saying he will be resuming his full-time coaching duties.
On Wednesday, some of the Colorado Buffaloes players spoke about what it has been like to have him with the team. Safety Carter Stoutmire even called it a breath of fresh air back into the team.
The Buffaloes are in training camp and preparing for the 2025 college football season. It will begin for them on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech.
