‘Raises South Carolina’s Ceiling’ – LaNorris Sellers Touted as Breakout QB, But Not Everyone Agrees

One of the most essential positions in college football is quarterback. The expectations are high, and the chances of being labeled the team’s weak point are also high. That has been the story of LaNorris Sellers, who, although touted as a breakout quarterback, has divided the fan base and pundits.

    The Arrival of LaNorris Sellers

When LaNorris Sellers signed for South Carolina, everyone believed he would raise the ceiling and positively change the team. He is renowned for his impressive arm strength and ability to deliver deep balls accurately. He was initially supposed to join Syracuse. But he changed his mind and decided to join South Carolina.

During his senior season at South Florence High School, he threw for 45 touchdowns with only two interceptions. Thanks to his impressive play, he led his team to the state championship. Such a fantastic display increased the hype around LaNorris Sellers, and it was not surprising that many colleges were trying to sign him.

But Not Everyone Agrees He’s Different

In the See Ball, Get Ball interview, David Pollack stated that LaNorris Sellers should not be mentioned among top quarterbacks like Garrett Nussmeier. He said, “I can’t rock with that; you’re telling me a guy that threw 2,500 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, you’re putting him against a guy that put almost 4,000 yards and almost 40 touchdowns a year ago.”

He continued, “LaNorris Sellers, he’s had those great moments, but as a passer, he had some really bad moments, and he’s not even close to an elite passer yet; he’s got a lot to work on. When you watch his game, he doesn’t always run hard; when he does, he’s absolutely a handful and a nightmare to bring down.”

From his comments, one could deduce that due to LaNorris Sellers’ size, he feels he could run better and should improve on his passing. As a final remark, he also said Sellers was inconsistent throughout the year.

As expected, not everyone agrees with this opinion. Andy and Ari on On3 Live ranked Sellers as the second-best quarterback based on his impressive throws and passes. In their words, Sellers is good and has had many great moments.

    Such an Argument is Healthy

Every great player needs to prove over time that they are great, which is the story of Sellers. He is young and has a bright career ahead of him.
