The South Carolina Gamecocks are coming off a very underrated 2024 season.
After winning nine games and finishing sixth in a loaded SEC, the ceiling could be quite high for head coach Shane Beamer, star quarterback LaNorris Sellers, and Co. in 2025.

Greg McElroy Likes the South Carolina Gamecocks Next Season
While chatting on “Always College Football” last week, former national champion quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy spoke about what he thinks of this South Carolina team heading into 2025.
“You have a great quarterback back in LaNorris Sellers…10 wins? Definitely possible and 10 wins, I think, gets the Gamecocks to the postseason.”
While McElroy noted how tough a schedule South Carolina will have, he also spoke glowingly about the signal-caller in Sellars.
Sellars is coming off a solid year. He completed 65.6% of his passes for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 674 yards and seven touchdowns.
His development could be the key for this team. If the Florence, South Carolina native can take another stride as a passer and make even better decisions, other SEC teams may want to look out.
South Carolina’s Tough 2025 Schedule
While many people are high on Sellers, the schedule for the Gamecocks looks to be a hard one. To start off the season in late August, they will face the Virginia Tech Hokies, who are usually a bit of a wildcard.
Then, they will have some tough road battles as they must face Missouri, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M on their home turf. Each of those teams was either highly ranked or had a chance to get to the SEC Championship Game a season ago.
Additionally, Beamer’s team will also have to face the Oklahoma Sooners, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Clemson Tigers at home.

While Williams-Brice Stadium is sure to be rocking for each of those matchups, the opponents could be ready for it. This Gamecocks team is one of the quietest in the country and has a chance to be really good.
But, it is going to have to start and end with Sellers, who is the team’s most valuable player at this point in time.
