South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers is reportedly looking to return in 2026 despite being projected as a potential first-rounder in the 2026 NFL draft. On3’s Pete Nakos dropped a major update in this regard on Saturday.
Nakos reported that Sellers is in the final stages of negotiations to return to South Carolina. This should shut down the transfer portal rumors surrounding Sellers.

The final negotiations might be around his NIL deal. Earlier this year, he famously turned down a reported $8 million NIL offer from another school, affirming his loyalty to South Carolina.
The reports come after LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina endured a difficult season that saw the program finish 4-8 in the regular season. They were ranked No. 13 in preseason polls and there was also Heisman buzz surrounding the quarterback.
There were several moments in the season where South Carolina didn’t play as expected. They blew a 30-3 halftime lead against No. 3 Texas A&M, and also lost the in-state rivalry game to Clemson, among other things.

LaNorris Sellers On His College Football Future After 2025 Season
Earlier, when asked about his future after the 2025 season, LaNorris Sellers said:
“When the time comes to make those decisions, it’s just going to be there. Everybody’s got decisions to make. But I mean, I plan on being here because I’m here right now.”
Meanwhile, coach Shane Beamer has pushed back on reports suggesting that Sellers is moving out of South Carolina.
“There’s a bunch of absolute horse garbage that’s on social media right now,” the head coach said.
LaNorris Sellers personally had a down year in terms of statistics. He finished the season with 60.8% completion for 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while rushing for only 270 yards in scoring five touchdowns. The stats don’t do justice given the breakout year he enjoyed in 2024. He still produced yardage and touchdowns, but the offense around him struggled.
In two years, Sellers has recorded 63.2% completion for 4,971 yards with 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He has also rushed for 944 yards and a dozen more scores.
