“Lane Kiffin Wants The Alabama Job”: LSU Just A Stepping Stone To Replace Kalen DeBoer For Former Ole Miss HC, Claims Analyst

Lane Kiffin finally made the switch from the Ole Miss Rebels to the LSU Tigers after a series of intense speculations. However, according to college football analyst Clinton Yates, Kiffin had another team in mind and might see LSU as a stepping stone to reach there.

The said team is none other than the Alabama Crimson Tide, where Kiffin worked as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2014-16 under the leadership of legendary head coach Nick Saban.

Yates also claimed that had Alabama also fired their head coach, Kiffin would have picked the Crimson Tide instead of the Tigers.

“It’s pretty clear to me how all of this timing worked out,” Yates said. “Lane Kiffin wants the Alabama job, that’s the job Lane Kiffin wants. And he’s willing to step on any school, including LSU, until he gets there.

“And the reason why he waited until the Iron Bowl ended to make that call is because if Alabama had lost that game to Auburn, they probably would have fired their coach too.
And he was willing to snake both Ole Miss and LSU if Alabama had come calling as well. Don’t forget that if you’re sticking your chest out in Baton Rouge right now talking about, ‘We got the big guy.’”

Lane Kiffin Wanted To Coach Ole Miss Into College Football Playoff

On Nov. 30, Lane Kiffin officially became the head coach of the LSU Tigers; however, he was ready to delay his travel to Baton Rouge had Ole Miss allowed him to lead the Rebels in the College Football Playoff.

“I was hoping to complete a historic six season run with this year’s team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team’s incredible success and their commitment to finish strong, and investing everything into a playoff run with guardrails in place to protect the program in any areas of concern,” Kiffin said on Sunday.

However, Kiffin said that his request to remain as head coach was denied by Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter.

“My request to do so was denied by Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance. Unfortunately, that means Friday’s Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels,” Kiffin added.

As a result, Friday’s Egg Bowl win against Mississippi State was Kiffin’s last game leading the Rebels.
