Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was at the center of attention on X for his off-field shenanigans. Kiffin, on his official X handle, reposted an article highlighting Penn State’s recruiting struggles, a sly trolling remark on Penn State coach James Franklin and his side.

The article shared by Kiffin also discussed Penn State losing on four-star quarterback Keegan Croucher, who decided to commit to Ole Miss rather than Penn State and Oregon. Croucher, just coming off a successful season at Cheshire Academy, was rated Rivals’ ninth-best quarterback in the 2027 class this past summer and recruiting Croucher this offseason was important for Coach Kiffin and the Rebels.
Penn State’s Recruiting Struggles Raise Major Concerns
The recruiting news for Penn State is not at all a winning situation. The program has just four commitments in the 2027 class. They do have four-star quarterback Troy Hunh committed for 2026, but losing Croucher to a conference rival is disheartening both in practice and symbolically.
The Nittany Lions now face serious questions about their direction. On Sunday, ESPN’s Football Power Index had Penn State ranked nineteenth. That is an absolute free fall after just falling out of the top ten a few weeks ago.
