It’s still settling in for some fans that Lane Kiffin has left Ole Miss and is now the head coach of the LSU Tigers. After leading the program to one of its best-ever seasons, Kiffin accepted an offer from LSU and moved on.
Since then, he has been busy trying to assemble a new team around him and recruit more players. The Rebels, on the other hand, were left wondering about the fate of their season after losing their head coach.
So far, the Rebels have done better than what most people expected. Under Pete Golding, they’re trying to find stability, but the firepower in the team that Kiffin had built is still there. And it showed when they faced Tulane.
The game against Tulane was their first matchup without Kiffin. The Rebels were under a lot of pressure, and they delivered a blowout win to make a strong statement. They defeated the Green Wave 41-10.
When Kiffin was recently asked about it, he said he had a great time watching the game and enjoyed seeing his former team dominate against Tulane.
“It was awesome, that was a great day, it really was,” Kiffin said. “I’m not just saying that. To watch those guys and how much they were smiling and The biggest game in the State of Mississippi. To blow out Tulane like that. It was awesome watching them. I was really excited for him.”

The program is now moving on from Kiffin and entering a new era. Even though their former coach is no longer there, they still have the talent on the roster to go against any team. They will be tested once again on Thursday against the Georgia Bulldogs for the Sugar Bowl.

Rebels’ Wide Receiver on the Key to the Rebels’ Success
The win against Tulane was surely good for the Rebels’ morale. They had been questioned about their future after Kiffin left, as many thought the team would now lose direction and wouldn’t be able to perform at a high level.
The Rebels proved everyone wrong with a dominant win and an overall performance. After the win, Rebels wide receiver Deuce Alexander talked about the team’s new identity with On3’s Chris Low.
“People were saying we weren’t going to be the same team without coach (Kiffin). He’s a great coach and all, but at the end of the day, the players play the game. So we were just prepared for the moment, just ready to go out there and prove everybody wrong,” he said.
If they win against the Bulldogs on Thursday, that’ll put all the doubts to rest and truly send the Rebels into a new era under new leadership.
