Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin Reels in Record 62-Inch Catch Off Florida Coast in Unexpected Offseason Stunt

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is preparing for an important season with his Rebels. After a strong season where the team went 10-3 and won the Gator Bowl, they are looking to get to the college football playoff in 2025. Despite a strong career, playoff appearances have evaded Kiffin thus far.

While Kiffin is hard at work this offseason, that does not mean he does not have free time for leisure activities. On Saturday, the Real Rated Red Instagram account posted an image of Lane Kiffin after catching a record-setting 62-inch Trumpetfish with the caption:

“Still no playoff appearances, but hey—he’s got a record fish. Lane Kiffin just reeled in one of the wildest off-season wins you’ll see. The Ole Miss head coach hit the Florida waters with his son Knox and walked away with what he’s calling a ‘Florida Record Trumpetfish,’ measuring a jaw-dropping 62.5 inches.”

“From deep sea catches to SEC selfies and Theo Von comedy nights, Coach Kiffin is definitely making the most of summer break.”

Kiffin later took the image and posted it on his Instagram story on Sunday morning.

Lane Kiffin Shows His Support for Flood Victims in Texas

While Kiffin has had the opportunity to go fishing on the water, he has also shown his support for victims of the recent flash floods in Texas. According to a report from the Associated Press on Friday, flash floods hit Texas, resulting in at least 10 inches of rain. At least 24 people were confirmed dead from the floods.

“At least 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rain poured down overnight in central Kerr County, causing flash flooding of the Guadalupe River,” the Associated Press reported. “At a news conference late Friday Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said 24 people had been killed. Authorities said 237 people had been rescued so far, including 167 by helicopter.”

Following the floods, Kiffin offered his support on social media. After someone posted asking for prayers for her friends and family on X, Kiffin responded with the praying emoji.

Despite his busy offseason off the field, Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are only a few months away from starting their season. The team is scheduled to start its season on Saturday, August 30, against Georgia State. It will be a home game for the Rebels.

Overall, the outlook for the Rebels this season is positive. They have a relatively weak schedule. Other than a game against Georgia midway through the season, the Rebels do not need to play the top SEC teams like Texas, Tennessee and Alabama.
