The Ole Miss Rebels have been a force to reckon with this college football season. After defeating the No. 3 seed Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal game with a scoreline of 39-34, the Oxford-based program is now slated to face the Miami Hurricanes in the semifinals.
Ole Miss’ dream college football run, apart from helping the overall program achieve new heights, has found a unique beneficiary in the form of former head coach Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin abruptly left Ole Miss right before the playoffs to sign a massive $91M contract spread over seven years to become LSU’s new head coach ahead of the 2026 season. Despite Kiffin’s departure from the Oxford-based program, he is slated to earn the same bonuses as he would’ve earned at Ole Miss.
As part of the agreement that brought him to LSU, the Tigers committed to paying Kiffin the same postseason bonuses he would have received had he remained at Ole Miss throughout the playoff run.
Kiffin has already collected a significant portion of those incentives. He received $150,000 when Ole Miss appeared in the first round against Tulane, followed by an additional $250,000 after the Rebels advanced to the quarterfinals with a 41–10 win over Tulane. His bonus total grew further with a $500,000 payout after Ole Miss defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in the quarterfinals, bringing his overall earnings to $900,000 so far.
If Ole Miss goes on to win the semifinal and reach the national championship game, Kiffin would be entitled to an additional $750,000. Should the Rebels go on to win the national title, that figure would rise to $1 million.

Ole Miss Fans Chant “F*ck Lane Kiffin” After Sugar Bowl Win
The atmosphere inside Caesars Superdome in New Orleans turned heated, with Ole Miss fans chanting “F*ck Lane Kiffin” following the final whistle.
With Kiffin leaving Ole Miss at a crucial juncture in the season, Ole Miss fans’ hostile behavior towards their estranged head coach only makes sense.

The Sugar Bowl saw the Bulldogs lead the game 21-12 going into halftime, holding a nine-point advantage, with the Rebels mounting a dramatic comeback, eventually pulling level at 34-34.
However, a 47-yard field goal from kicker Lucas Carneiro in the final moments of the game sealed a CFB semi-final berth for the Rebels.
