Lane Kiffin abruptly left Ole Miss for a higher-paying coaching job at LSU after leading the team to an 11-1 record and the No. 6 seed in the CFP. Ole Miss had seemingly been in chaos since he left, but new head coach Pete Golding has risen to the occasion and won his first game as a head coach, and at the CFP no less, dominating Tulane 41-10.
After Ole Miss proved that they do not need him to win in the CFP, Kiffin took to social media to congratulate Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels for their victory, and he was quite gracious about it.
“Congrats to all the coaches and players @OleMissFB and especially @CoachGolding and seeing his 2 boys on the sidelines 💙❤️ Great win today. #1-0. #BeatGeorgiaInTheBoot,” he tweeted.
Right now, Kiffin is not very popular over at Oxford, as he got severely booed when he left the college town for Baton Rouge last month. He also received a lot of hate from Ole Miss fans for his decision to leave, with reports of players being disappointed at his decision and leaving them high and dry just when they were about to play in the College Football Playoffs.
So far, Kiffin has been dropping hints that he is currently trying to recruit Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to LSU. The Tigers currently need a new quarterback, and Chambliss, whom Kiffin turned from an unknown D2 transfer to one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, would be a prime target.

Meanwhile, while Kiffin reacted to his old team doing well in the playoffs, fans also took to social media to clown on Kiffin trying to get back in Ole Miss’ good graces.
“Golding has been a head coach for one college football game and already has more playoff wins than you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💔💔💔,” one fan pointed out.
“Easily the best the team has looked all season. It’s almost like there was something holding us back. Thank you @CoachGolding ! It feels like when you get out of a toxic relationship with a childish narcissist,” said one fan with a dig at Lane Kiffin.
“You donating that 250k bonus back to Pete and the boys for the W, or what?,” asked another fan.
“Lane is giving creepy ex vibes,” added another.
“U just wanted that money,” one fan called out.
“congrats on the check @Lane,” another fan noted.
Lane Kiffin is set to earn $250,000 from LSU on that win by Ole Miss as part of his package, and that was what many fans were talking about.
