‘You’re Not Part of the Run’: Analyst Urges Lane Kiffin to Stop Inserting Himself Into Ole Miss’ Title Chase

Lane Kiffin is still not over the Ole Miss Rebels. This is surprising because the decision to leave them and join the LSU Tigers was his. Kiffin’s actions and social media antics since leaving Oxford are making him look bad in the fans’ eyes.

Be it the picture he posted before the Texas Bowl or posting the flag of Trinidad & Tobago on January 2nd, Kiffin is seemingly trying to keep his name involved in the Ole Miss conversations. And some people have had enough of it.

Andy Staples of On3’s Andy & Ari recently discussed Kiffin’s off-field actions. He believes that Kiffin should put his energy toward building the LSU Tigers. So far, he has shown less interest in that and more in being associated with the Rebels.

Kiffin is not entirely uprooted from the Rebels as of now. He still has a monetary interest in their success. When they defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and qualified for the CFP semifinals, Kiffin made $500k in bonus.

If they beat Miami at The Fiesta Bowl, Kiffin will add another $750k. The ultimate prize for him is if the Rebels win the title, he’ll get a million dollars. But does that justify his current antics? Staples doesn’t think so.

“You made your decision, and you’re not a part of the run. That doesn’t mean that I don’t think that he would be entitled to credit if they win the championship. I do think that, regardless of how you feel about Lane Kiffin, he did build that team,” he said.

If the Rebels win the title, Kiffin will get his due credit and the million dollars that he’s guaranteed by the LSU Tigers. Until then, he should focus on making the LSU Tigers a championship-caliber team.

Andy Staples Made a Wild Lane Kiffin Claim

While speaking to his co-host Ari Wasserman, Staples said that when Kiffin left Ole Miss, he didn’t think they were good enough to reach the semifinals. Amid everything that Kiffin has been doing off the field, Staples believes that’s a logical conclusion.

Staples said that Kiffin must have thought that even if he stayed with the team, they wouldn’t have made it so far in the season. One of the reasons why fans think Kiffin made that decision was the money that LSU was offering.

However, Staples made it clear that Ole Miss was more than willing to match that offer and give him anything else that he desired to stay with the Rebels. So, money didn’t play a big part in that decision.

Staples’ argument makes sense. At the same time, if Kiffin didn’t believe in the Rebels, why would he ask the Tigers to guarantee him bonuses based on their postseason success? The whole story is best known to the man himself.
