Newly minted LSU head coach Lane Kiffin might be getting a homecoming that he might be dreading next year, as his new team, the LSU Tigers, will be heading to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught Hemingway Stadium in 2026. This might be his first time back at Oxford since leaving for Baton Rouge, and Rebels fans are expected to let him know what they think of their soon-to-be former coach.

Kiffin himself reacted to this revelation, showing a brave face as he confidently addressed next year’s LSU vs. Ole Miss showdown.
“Spot the ball,” he wrote.

It was Kiffin who was responsible for turning the program around at Ole Miss, with him being the one credited to be responsible for turning the team into one of the best college football teams in the country. He had even turned down several offers to take other coaching jobs when he was there. However, when LSU fired Brian Kelly and offered Kiffin a much higher salary, Kiffin decided to leave Oxford for Baton Rouge.
Kiffin has been very gracious in leaving Ole Miss, even though he would have wanted to continue coaching the Rebels into the playoffs. He led the team to being the No. 6 team in the country and will possibly be playing in the College Football Playoffs, but it will be his defensive coordinator, Pete Golding, who will be leading the Rebels in their postseason campaign.

How Much Money Did LSU Offer To Lure Lane Kiffin Out Of Ole Miss?
Kiffin had been very loyal to Ole Miss, choosing to stay at Oxford after being offered a lot of money by several schools, like Auburn. However, it was LSU that managed to lure him away from Mississippi after the school fired Brian Kelly as the football head coach. So, how much is Kiffin reportedly going to make over at Baton Rouge?
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Lane Kiffin will reportedly earn $12 million per year over a period of seven years. This still does not include any performance bonuses he might get should the Tigers do well under his watch. This is much higher than what he is getting at Ole Miss, which is reportedly around $9 million per year.
