Lane Kiffin has been receiving flak from social media after he left the Ole Miss Rebels just ahead of the 2025 College Football Playoff to join the LSU Tigers as a head coach. Kiffin led the Rebels to an 11-1 record in the 2025 regular season, and while he wanted to coach the Rebels in the playoffs, athletic director Keith Carter denied his request, prompting Kiffin to make his LSU decision official.
Ever since he announced the decision on Saturday, Ole Miss fans have trolled him. Kiffin finds it unfair, but he reacted to such a reception with just two words:
“Let them.”
Kiffin also attached a poster with this reaction. It had the following message, which in turn might be something the head coach might be feeling. It read:
“99% of people that judge you or have opinions on you have no idea what the f*ck is actually happening in your life.”
“Let them” 🙏 pic.twitter.com/RnjQp2d6nL

Lane Kiffin On Why He Left Ole Miss To Coach LSU
Days before Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss, his former Alabama head coach, Nick Saban, had already predicted that if Kiffin was considering a move, the best place for him to go would be the LSU Tigers, since there he would stand the best chance to recruit the best high school talents.
On Saturday, Kiffin shared that it was a difficult decision for him to leave Oxford, Mississippi, after six “special” seasons.
“That was … excruciating and difficult,” Kiffin said. “We tried every possible thing [in negotiations] for a long time the other night and into the morning … We presented a plan [to stay through the College Football Playoff]. At the end of the day, that’s their decision. And I respect that.”
Kiffin also admitted that he consulted with former Alabama legendary coach Nick Saban before moving to LSU. Saban had actually won the 2003 national championship with the LSU Tigers.
“I think the world of Coach Saban, and I respect him,” Kiffin said. “And so there’s a reason we’re here.”
“When you take the history, tradition, passion and the great players in the state of Louisiana, no one can argue that when you’re in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, there is nothing like it,” Kiffin added. “This place is built for championships with championship expectations – we understand that – but as an elite competitor, that’s exactly what you want, and that’s why we’re here.”
It remains to be seen if Kiffin can turn things around at LSU.
