Lane Kiffin’s next coaching destination is the talk of the town, and with every new development, the current Ole Miss head coach’s future remains uncertain.
With Florida out of contention, Kiffin now has to choose between continuing at Ole Miss and moving to LSU, with reports suggesting that the latter could happen at any time.
However, things aren’t as black and white as they seem, with the entire situation growing messier by the day. With LSU being the frontrunner to get hold of Kiffin, things aren’t going that well at Ole Miss.
Kiffin has reportedly given Ole Miss an ultimatum, essentially threatening to walk away from the program along with the current Ole Miss staff if he is not allowed to coach the Rebels through the playoffs.
Kiffin has also allegedly forced his staff to follow him to LSU.
Lane Kiffin is essentially forcing his offensive staff to choose between coaching players in the CFP and heading to LSU immediately.

This has prompted ESPN’s college football analyst Matt Schick to weigh in on the situation. Schick issued a stern reminder on X, showing no sympathy whatsoever for Lane Kiffin. While acknowledging that the college football calendar needs a change, Schick emphasized that Kiffin is not the victim in this situation.
“Lane Kiffin is not the victim”, Schick began writing on X.
“Yes, the calendar needs an adjustment, and it required an answer from Kiffin at an inopportune time”, Schick added.
Schick further highlighted that no one forced Kiffin to make a decision, and now he is in a pickle because actions have consequences.
“But nobody forced him to make the decision he made. That’s on him. Decisions have consequences”, Schick elaborated.
College football playoff games are scheduled to begin on Dec. 19, a little over two weeks from now.
With Ole Miss currently sitting first in the SEC with an impressive 11-1 record, Kiffin would definitely want to continue to lead his side through the playoffs, but the LSU proposal at bay also looks enticing.

Tulane’s Jon Sumrall Emerges As a Potential Candidate If Lane Kiffin Departs
Lane Kiffin has reportedly been offered a seven-year, $100 million contract, with an annual salary of $12 million, to join LSU.
If Kiffin chooses to leave Ole Miss, the Rebels will be tasked with finding an apt replacement for him, which, as per reports, could very well be Tulane Head Coach Jon Sumrall.
Since 2020, Kiffin has had a successful 55-19 record, which includes a recent 38-19 egg over Mississippi State.
