As expected, several individuals from the college football world are unhappy with Lane Kiffin‘s decision to leave the Ole Miss Rebels. On Sunday, Nov. 30, Kiffin confirmed through his X/Twitter account that he has accepted the LSU Tigers’ offer and will transfer there, as the current college football postseason is about to ensue, following six seasons at the helm of the Rebels.
In a video posted by @on3cfb on Instagram, a clip shows Kiffin boarding his airplane shortly after he announced his move to the Tigers. The clip captures several fans and supporters of the Rebels program heckling and booing Kiffin, who was hurriedly trying to get to his plane and fly off to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Kiffin, in his final regular season with the Rebels, spearheaded the squad to an SEC-topping 11-1 overall record (7-1 SEC). He now moves to a Tigers team that is still reeling from the departure of Brian Kelly. Kiffin will take over from interim coach Frank Wilson. For the 2025 season, the Tigers finished with a 7-5 record (3-5 SEC) as the No. 10 seed in the same conference as Ole Miss.

Lane Kiffin Wanted To Close Out His Time With The Ole Miss Rebels Properly
According to Lane Kiffin, he actually wanted to close out the 2025 campaign strong with the Ole Miss Rebels. In an emotional farewell letter to the Rebels, he mentioned that his request to conclude the year with the team was denied by the school’s director of athletics, Keith Carter.
“I was hoping to complete a historic six-season run with this year’s team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team’s incredible success and their commitment to finish strong, and investing everything into a playoff run with guardrails in place to protect the program in any areas of concern. My request to do so was denied by Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance,” Kiffin shared.
“Unfortunately, that means Friday’s Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels,” he added.
