Brian Kelly, the former head coach of LSU, posted a heartfelt farewell note after being fired a couple of weeks ago, sharing his gratitude for his time in Baton Rouge.
In the post, Kelly’s open letter to the Tiger fans reflected on his four-year journey with the program.
The post drew a plethora of reactions, with a notable comment coming from a current player. LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, who is dating Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s daughter Landry Kiffin, responded to his former coach.
Weeks kept his reaction brief as he posted a single pink heart emoji ❤️ in the comments section.

“Moving to Baton Rouge four years ago, my family and I were clear.”There would be no halfway. We would be all-in for LSU and for Louisiana,” Kelly wrote.
Kelly also acknowledged the sudden end to his tenure.
“Sometimes the journey does not end the way we hope,” he stated.

He also highlighted the positives from his time in Baton Rouge as he celebrated coaching a Heisman Trophy winner. Kelly also noted the academic success of his team including 39 players earning SEC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2024.
The letter concluded with support for the current team.
“I wish Coach Wilson, the coaches and our players the best this weekend. Geaux Tigers,” he further wrote.
This emotional message comes days after Kelly’s firing. LSU let him go after a disappointing 5-3 start to the 2025 season.
His exit is one of the most expensive in college football history with a reported buyout of $54 million.

Lane Kiffin Reportedly Offered $14 Million To Coach LSU Amidst Kelly’s Dismissal
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was reportedly offered a $14 million contract to lead LSU after Kelly’s dismissal, but Kiffin has affirmed his commitment to Ole Miss.
Meanwhile, Whit Weeks is currently sidelined with an injury as the standout LSU linebacker is also listed as doubtful for the upcoming game against Alabama.
Weeks is dating Landry Kiffin, the daughter of Lane Kiffin and news of their relationship broke just before LSU played Ole Miss earlier this season.
Landry, 20, is Lane Kiffin’s eldest daughter and is currently a student at the University of Mississippi. She is often seen supporting her brother, Knox Kiffin who plays high school football at Oxford whilst also supporting the Rebels.
