LA Bowl Preview: Boise State vs. Washington Prediction, Odds & Key Matchups

Boise State and Washington may have missed the CFP, but they do get to play in the LA Bowl on Saturday at the SoFi Stadium. These two teams have done quite well, but not good enough to get into the College Football Playoffs, and this will be their chance to get the spotlight on them after a great season.

This time, both teams will be playing in neutral territory, so nobody really has the home field advantage. So which among them will triumph?

LA Bowl: Boise State vs. Washington Key Matchups

QB: Maddux Madsen vs. Demond Williams Jr.

Demond Williams Jr. and Maddux Madsen are more similar than what many may think, as the two quarterbacks are both quite flexible, not afraid to move the ball up the field themselves while also having stellar passing games. Stats-wise, however, Williams has the edge.

RB: Dylan Riley vs. Adam Mohammed and Jonah Coleman

Washington has a rotation of running backs as opposed to Boise State, which has star running back Dylan Riley carrying the team through a lot of games. This one should be interesting as Boise State definitely prefers the rushing game and Riley often at the tip of the spear. He does have backups but it is already clear who shines the most at RB.

DB: Ty Benefield vs. Alex McLaughlin

On the defensive end, Boise State’s Ty Benefield has been a tackle machine and can cause some trouble for the Huskies offense. On the other side of the coin, however, Alex McLaughlin can do the same to the Broncos offense.

LA Bowl: Boise State vs. Washington Odds

SportsLine has already released the odds for the game, and the Washington Huskies are considered the -10 favorites for this one, with an over/under of 52.5 points. The moneyline will be -366 for the Huskies, while it will be +255 for the Broncos.

LA Bowl: Boise State vs. Washington Prediction

As for who will likely win, the Washington Huskies clearly come from a stronger conference and have done well there, and that is why they were named the slight favorites. However, upsets can happen, and the odds for them to win are not that great.

That being said, the safe bet should be Washington, but Boise State has that ability to surprise many, so this one should go to the Broncos.
