December was certainly an important month for Kyle Whittingham. First, he ended his two-decade association with the University of Utah, his first and, up until a week ago, his only head coaching job. His stint at the school was almost legendary, finishing with a record of 177-88.
Shortly after stepping down from the school, he was hired by a desperate Michigan athletic department, which was trying to repair the damage done by the recent Sherrone Moore scandal. Safe to say, it was a momentous month in Whittingham’s life.
However, there’s something else, perhaps more important in the coach’s life, which happens every December: his anniversary with his wife, Jamie Whittingham.
While the couple didn’t publish any content about it this year, Jamie celebrated the occasion last year through her Instagram account with a post. She wrote the following in the caption:
“Happy 41st Anniversary!! You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me! You’re the love of my life!!”

Jamie and Kyle Whittingham completed 42 years of married life on Dec. 27, and they have known each other since they were eight years old. They were both in the eighth grade at Farrer Junior High School in California, where the Whittingham family had just moved in at the time.

Kyle Whittingham’s Statement on Joining the Michigan Wolverines
It seems that the former Utah Utes coach is incredibly excited to join such a storied program like Michigan’s.
In a statement released by the Ann Arbor school after the coach’s signing was announced, the coach said:
“Michigan is synonymous with tradition and excellence — both on the field and beyond — and our entire program is committed to upholding those values while striving for greatness together,”
Whittingham signed a five-year contract, in which he will earn around $8.2 million a year, according to the reports by Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel. Reportedly, 75% of the deal is guaranteed.
