Kyle Whittingham will serve as the replacement of Sherrone Moore, who is officially out after a scandal-ridden run with the Michigan Wolverines. With the decision made to set up Michigan for the future, the question is what happens this week.
Michigan still has a Bowl Game to play against the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, and the head coach swap doesn’t change that. Despite a short building time, the new head coach’s first decision will be how much he tries to do in the game. Here’s a look at what the coach has decided.

Kyle Whittingham’s Immediate Coaching Plan
According to CBS Sports‘ Dec. 28 report, Kyle Whittingham revealed he had spent an hour with quarterback Bryce Underwood on Sunday before seemingly going all in on him.
“The offense we’re bringing here, I think, is going to suit him to a tee,” Whittingham said. “And I think he’s going to really, really excel and have a great experience here.”
He also spoke about his goals for the team.
“What you can expect? Physicality will be our calling card,” Whittingham added. “We were the most physical team in whatever league we played in. I believe in running the football and defending the run. If you can win the line of scrimmage, be physical up front.”
So, it sounds like Underwood isn’t going to kick his feet up in the upcoming contest.
Kyle Whittingham Leaves Former Team With Equally Big Questions
With Kyle Whittingham gone after a run with the Utah Utes dating back to 2005, his former team is left with its own questions with another game to play. The Utes will play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their own building on New Year’s Eve.
Previously, it had been reported that Whittingham would be allowed to coach the Bowl game for the Utes, but those plans have changed, with Whittingham joining Michigan immediately, according to a Dec. 26 ESPN report. According to an ESPN Dec. 12 report, defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley will take over as Utah’s interim head coach.
As such, Whittingham’s former defensive coordinator will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers, while Whittingham will face the Texas Longhorns.
