The Buckeyes won a national title a year after Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord transferred from Ohio State to Syracuse. However, it made McCord happy to see his former team win.

Kyle McCord Happy for the Buckeyes
The All-ACC performer spoke about his old team winning the national title in front of the media at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis today.
Kyle McCord said it was “awesome” to see Ohio State win the national championship and thinks his transfer from Ohio State to Syracuse worked out for the best for everyone. https://t.co/XUhc4ITZvO pic.twitter.com/nx38p5OoaH

Seeing McCord have a great attitude about the whole situation is something younger quarterbacks should take note of.
Although he was forced out of Columbus, he doesn’t have a negative attitude toward his old team and is still a great teammate even now that his time at Ohio State has ended.
It was also a win-win for both parties as the Buckeyes won a national title, and McCord significantly improved his NFL Draft stock in his lone season at Syracuse.
McCord’s Elite 2024 Season
While starting for the Orange, McCord had an outstanding season. He finished the 2024 regular season ranked first nationally in passing yards (4,326), passing attempts (558), completions (367), and passing yards per game (360.0).
His 4,779 passing yards and 34 touchdown passes were also quite impressive. It was a season that will live long in the history books at the University of Syracuse.
Thanks to McCord’s extraordinary efforts, his team won 10 games for just the second time in almost 25 years and put Syracuse on the map as a competitive football school. Now, he will look to make his mark at the NFL level.

While Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jaxson Dart are getting all the hype, McCord is a player who could be very valuable in the middle or later rounds.
Over the last 15 years, quarterbacks who were and have been able to make a significant impact after being drafted in the middle rounds have included Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, and Dak Prescott.
Can McCord do the same if he is indeed drafted in that area? That could be a real possibility if his college career is any indication.
