The recruitment of a four-star RB from Carthage, Texas, is ramping up as he plans official trips to two of the state’s top programs. Edwards has set his sights on Texas A&M and the University of Texas, escalating the rivalry between two in-state schools.
Edwards has confirmed his official visit to Texas A&M on June 12, 2025. The Aggies have been actively recruiting Edwards, who has shown tremendous playmaking skills since his freshman year.

According to On3, the Aggies have a 22.1% chance of signing the Texas native. According to 247Sports, the Aggies’ Class of 2026 currently ranks second in the country.
Not to be deterred, the Texas Longhorns have invited Edwards to an official visit from June 13-15, 2025. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are eager to tout Edwards their program’s strengths, underlining their dedication to recruiting quality state talent.
The Longhorns’ offensive strategy and recent success make them an appealing choice for the highly regarded running back.
Edwards spoke with On3 about his decision on Sunday and praised the Longhorns for recruiting him.
“Texas is always reaching out and doing their job with me well,” Edwards said. “They reach out on Saturdays before the games, and that is a great feeling. They are telling me they need me. Since my freshman year, Texas has been recruiting me hard.”
Edwards’ recruitment has attracted a lot of attention. On3 ranked him as the No. 37 talent nationally and the third-best running back in the 2026 class. In addition to Texas A&M and Texas, he has gotten offers from SMU, Baylor, and others.
His coming excursions will be crucial as he narrows down his options and considers his future at the college level.
