    Who Is Kirk Herbstreit’s Wife?

Kirk Herbstreit is married to Alison Butler since 1998. The couple met when they were both students at Ohio State University. Herbstreit, as we know, was the quarterback, while Butler was a cheerleader at the same time.

    Who Are Kirk Herbstreit’s Children?

Kirk Herbstreit and Alison Butler are parents to four sons: twin brothers Jake and Tye (born in 2000), Zak (born 2002), and the youngest, Chase (born in 2006).

Jake and Tye Herbstreit were born eight weeks early as the Kirk told Pure Athlete in March:

“That was my introduction to being a dad. They were in the NICU for about eight weeks — to this day, I’m just so concerned about them because of those images that we dealt with.”

Jake attended the Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville. He went to Clemson University from 2019 to 2021 to study marketing. He also played college football as a walk-on before transferring to Ohio State for his final college years. In Ohio State, he studied consumer and family financial services.

Jake’s twin Tye Herbstreit also attended Montgomery Bell. The two twins can’t be told apart as their coach Marty Eduverard told The Tennessean:

“You’ll be talking to one and think it’s the other one. Sometimes we’ll call them O-Herby and D-Herby, because one of them (Tye) starts on offense, and one of them (Jake) starts on defense.”

Like Jake he also went to Clemson and played as a walk-on. He studied marketing and graduated there. The twins host the show Streit Talk Show.

Kirk Herbstreit’s third son Zak followed his brothers to Montgomery Bell and attended Ohio State. He played as a tight end there and studied marketing. Two years ago in June 2023, Zak was misdiagnosed with with pneumonia before it was discovered that he had a heart condition.

After Ohio State won the national championship earlier this year, Kirk Herbstreit shared that due to his heart condition, he won’t play football anymore. Despite that, Zak remains in Ohio State as a student coach with head coach Ryan Day for which even Kirk is grateful.

Last but not the least, Kirk Herbstreit’s fourth and youngest son Chase attended St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. As a three-star prospect he got into Michigan, a fierce rival of Ohio State. Commenting about this, Kirk said (via the Pardon My Take podcast):

“What an opportunity for him. This is a kid that grew up a lifelong Ohio State fan, of all my kids. Like, he’s the guy that cried when they lose games. Ohio State did not really pursue him to the point of offering him a scholarship.”

Chase has started practicing with Michigan on their college football team this August.
