The Georgia Bulldogs have been one of the most dominant teams in the last decade. Despite that, something seems off when it comes to the media’s attention on them. Arch Manning is the media and fan favorite and is commanding a lot of attention this season.
Kirk Herbstreit recently realized that it makes no sense how a team like Georgia has gone under the radar. During an appearance on ‘Get Up,’ Herbstreit shared his thoughts on the matter and took a subtle shot at Manning as well.
“You know, I think, sometimes, even in the college world, we just kind of get caught up in Arch Manning or what’s the big story, and it’s easy, even for a team like Georgia, to kind of be put on the back burner,” Herbstreit said.
Herbstreit’s comments came ahead of the Bulldogs’ clash with Tennessee, a game many believe will be their chance to remind everyone of their pedigree. He noted that Georgia still recruits at the highest level, still develops depth better than most programs, and still has the infrastructure to win at the sport’s peak.
Yet the media focus has largely been on Texas, Ohio State, and Penn State. That shift in attention, in his eyes, has put Georgia on the back burner despite their consistency. The subtle shot at Arch Manning came through his emphasis on how storylines get shaped by hype rather than production.
This is Manning’s first run as the starting quarterback for the Longhorns, arguably the strongest team this year. In addition to that, his connection to the Manning family and the media and people’s interest in his future take the attention away from others. In this particular case, Georgia.

Kirby Smart Opened Up About Rivalry with Tennessee
Georgia and Tennessee will go against each other on September 13th. It’s a highly anticipated matchup as the two programs share a long history of rivalry. Bullgog’s head coach Kirby Smart recently shared his perspective on the rivalry.
“It’s a historic rivalry, because it’s been so many years played over time, and it’s a lot of big games,” Smart said. “A lot of big games during Coach Richt’s era, and Coach Donnan’s era, been a lot of big games played between Tennessee and Georgia. Not a lot more I can say than that. All those border wars are big time rivalries.”
Both teams are unbeaten so far. Georgia has played Marshall and Austin Peay, defeating them 45-7 and 28-6, respectively. The Volunteers, on the other hand, have shown that they have a bigger offensive firepower.
They won their season opener against Syracuse 45-26 and registered a dominant 72-17 win over East Tennessee.
