    Diehard Ohio State Fan Kirk Herbstreit Embraces Michigan in Latest Recruiting Visit With Son Chase

    College football insider and Ohio State Buckeyes fan Kirk Herbstreit poses with his son, Michigan Wolverines quarterback prospect Chase Herbstreit.

    It appears as though college football insider, NFL commentator, and lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan Kirk Herbstreit has been forced to cheer for the rival Michigan Wolverines, at least in some capacity. In Dec. 2024, Herbreit’s son, Chase, announced his commitment to play college football for the iconic Wolverines program.

    As a result, photos have recently been revealed from that visit, and Kirk is featured in an interesting situation.

    Chase Herbstreit’s Commitment to Michigan

    Kirk played quarterback during his college football days as a member of the Buckeyes. However, his fellow QB son appears set to become a member of the rival Wolverines next year. Chase played his high school football at Cincinnati’s St. Xavier High School and led his team to a regional playoff final last season as well.

    The popular Wolverines fan profile “@uofmcoverage” reposted the photo of the Herbstreit family at the Michigan facilities.

    “2025 Michigan QB signee Chase Herbstreit on his official visit 🔥 #GoBlue
    @ChaseHerbstreit,” the post was captioned.

    Though he will obviously be fully supporting his son for the next few years, it is quite surprising to see Kirk posing with a Wolverines badge alongside a Michigan uniform.

    Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines Rivalry

    Ohio State and Michigan boast one of, if not the best, rivalry in all of college football. Both programs are members of the Big Ten conference, and the matchup each year is one of the most viewed and talked about games in the sport.

    In addition, both programs are two of the most historic in the entire country and have had NFL legends, including Cameron Heyward and Tom Brady, come through their respective ranks.

    The Buckeyes have claimed nine national championships, while the Wolverines have won 12 of their own. The Buckeyes took home the national championship this past season, and the Wolverines’ last championship came at the end of the 2023 campaign.

    In their last four matchups, the Wolverines have prevailed each time, something that has become a major frustration among those supporting the Buckeyes.

    Most recently, the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium by a score of 13-10 in Nov. 2024 for their fourth consecutive victory. Next season, the hotly contested matchup will take place on Nov. 29, 2025, and will be played at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
