Georgia Bulldogs Get Back in the Game in the Second Quarter Against Tennessee
Say what you will about Kirby Smart’s teams, but they are nothing if not resilient. Despite being deep in the gutter at 7-21 early on, Georgia managed to stabilize the situation against the Volunteers in the second quarter. They scored 10 unanswered points, and managed to get ball posession entering the third quarter.
They were even able to stop Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar in the last seconds of the second quarter with an interception by Ryan Puglisi, thus avoiding any possibility of the Volunteers’ lead stretching before halftime.
Aguilar started the game strongly, with 229 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but with one interception. His completion percentage was 72.7% in the first half. The interception he threw reads more as an attempt to give the Vols some breathing room going into the second half of the game, which led him to take risks he wouldn’t have otherwise.
For Georgia, Gunner Stockton threw for 178 yards, with one touchdown pass and a completion percentage of 63%. He also ran for 16 yards and scored one rushing touchdown.
