When it comes to Cleveland sports, LeBron James is certainly one of the people who has given the city a huge impact during his historic run with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins is comparing that legacy to what is happening with Shedeur Sanders with the Cleveland Browns.
The former Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics star talked about the son of Deion Sanders during the “Road Trippin'” podcast and said he does not understand why the former Colorado quarterback is No. 4 in the Browns’ depth charts when he played well in his opening game and attracting a lot of fans to the games.
“I don’t know what’s going on in Cleveland with that organization. And I don’t understand, you know, when they put out the depth chart and he’s still at number four. If they knew better, they would do better. He’s selling jerseys. He’s going to put butts in the seats. And this is real life, real talk. He brings something to the table that I haven’t seen in a long time when it comes down to bringing some form of togetherness,” Perkins said. (1:02:26)
I’ve never seen how people, athletes, and entertainers from other sports react and root to support this young man. Like, they played, I believe it was the Panthers, and there was nothing but Shedeur Sanders jerseys in there. He is the most powerful rookie. I haven’t seen somebody this powerful in Cleveland as a rookie since LeBron James. And I know people tell me about Johnny Manziel. No, no, no, no, no. Shedeur Sanders is different,” he added.
“Cleveland, get your stuff together. That should be your starting quarterback, first and foremost, on the business side and on the field side. I’m just saying,” Perkins noted.
Shedeur Sanders is one of the six quarterbacks that the browns currently have on their roster. Him being listed at No. 4 in the depth charts means he might be in danger of being cut, shelved or used as trade bait as NFL rules only allow three QBs in the active roster for the regular season.

Shedeur Sanders’ Likely To Miss Game Vs. Philadelphia Eagles Due to Injury
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback injury woes continue, as Shedeur Sanders, the hero of the preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, is likely missing the preseason game against the world champs, the Philadelphia Eagles due to injury.
Reports from the joint practice between the Eagles and the Browns indicated that Sanders suffered a strained oblique, which forced him to miss that practice. The former Colorado QB was the likely starter for that upcoming game against the Eagles, which means that either No. 6-ranked Tyler Huntley or No. 3-ranked Dillon Gabriel may be starting against the defending champs.
This injury has many worried that this will lead the quarterback to not make the active roster as his availability for Saturday’s game remains questionable given his injury woes. The No. 4-ranked Browns QB had suffered some arm soreness during training camp, with the Browns experiencing a lot of injury woes among their quarterbacks.
