Does size really matter? For East Texas A&M’s CB Kendall Paul, he’s showing NFL scouts that it doesn’t. Measuring 5’9″ while weighing 165 lbs, this short king is raising his draft stock.

Kendall Paul’s Blazing Speed Is Capturing the Eyes of NFL Scouts
Many of you probably haven’t heard of East Texas A&M. Playing in the FCS’s Southland Conference, the Lions finished with an abysmal 3-9 record in 2024. Due to their performance and lack of track record, not many scouts had their eyes on its players.
What a pro day for small school DB Kendall Paul (East Texas A&M) yesterday, with a long list of NFL reps in attendance.
Ran 4.27 in the 40 & finished the short-shuttle in 4.02 — which would have been the fastest time of anyone at the combine. Productive defender amassed 7.5… pic.twitter.com/UR0ApMsSC6

Now, that is not to say players from the university haven’t been drafted. Most recently, DT Levi Drake Rodriguez was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 7th round of last year’s draft.
With A&M’s recent pro day, all things point to Paul becoming the next Lion to be selected in the NFL draft. He wowed scouts with his athleticism during a strong performance in defensive back drills, clocking in an unbelievable 40-yard dash time at 4.27 seconds and a 4.02-second short shuttle.
Even as an undersized outside CB, he isn’t afraid to hit. In fact, his technique proves how valuable it is to “go low”; just check out his highlights.
Born in Dallas, Texas, to mother Felicia and father Kevin, he credits his parents for everything, especially his dad; “My role model is my father. His commitment to giving everything he has in everything he does, combined with the way he leads as a father, has shaped the person I strive to be, especially when I become a father myself.”
When questioned about his game, Paul stated:
“What makes me a top prospect at my position is my knowledge of the game, my confidence that I feel like I’m the best, my speed and my relentless pursuit of the ball, and the fact that I don’t know how to go under 110% when I’m on the field.”
This confidence and drive fit perfectly with his favorite team’s history and demand for greatness; “My favorite NFL team growing up was the Pittsburgh Steelers — I greatly admire Coach Mike Tomlin, and Troy Polamalu was my favorite player to watch.”

It’s clear Paul takes after his favorite player. Like Polamalu, his natural ability to lead and toughness should translate well to the NFL.
The Steelers currently own six picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Time will tell if Paul will be able to create his own legacy in Pittsburg.
