Kelvin Banks Jr.’s NFL Draft Scouting Report

Kelvin Banks Jr. has all the physical attributes needed to be a high-level starting offensive lineman at the NFL level. He has the athletic traits that scouts drool over at the offensive tackle position. He’s a natural mover with quick feet and impressive short-area explosiveness.

Thanks to his low center of gravity and determined tenacity, he’s capable of driving defenders off the ball. He still stands to improve his hand usage and timing, as premature punches can contribute to lurches and lapses in balance.

Nevertheless, there’s plenty to like with Banks. He’s a former five-star recruit, a team captain, and a translatable talent at both tackle and guard, and his ability to get out in space and finish separates him from most.

Kelvin Banks Jr.’s NFL Draft Projection

In CSN’s 7-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft from April 12, Banks landed in Round 1 with the 18th overall pick. James Fragoza has this to say:

The Seahawks believe they have their long-term tackles in Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas, but even still, they are desperate for quality interior play. Let Kelvin Banks Jr. shine on the inside, and if Cross or Lucas flame out, he can slide over and shore up the bookends.

And in CSN’s recent 3-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Brian Burden had this to say about Banks’ selection to the Chicago Bears in Round 1 with the 10th pick:

If he’s still here, it will be hard for the Chicago Bears to pass up on Kelvin Banks Jr., the Outland and Lombardi Trophy winner and All-American selection with the Texas Longhorns last year. A starter since early in his freshman season, Banks allowed just one sack in each of his last two seasons in Austin.

That came after he earned Freshman All-American status after surrendering just two sacks on over 400 pass blocking snaps in 2022.

Chicago brought in Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman, and Jonah Jackson up front to protect second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, as the Bears have the makings of an offensive juggernaut. How often do you hear that out of Soldier Field? The 6’5″, 315-pound Banks could come into the left tackle slot and solidify one of the best lines in the league.
