Kellen Mond’s journey to football fame started close to home. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he’s now the quarterback for the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL. His path took him through elite college football at Texas A&M University. Let’s trace how this local talent rose to stardom just miles from where he grew up.

Kellen Mond’s Journey From Aggie Glory to UFL Spotlight
Mond’s college career began at Texas A&M in 2017. He arrived as a highly acclaimed recruit from IMG Academy in Florida. Initially a backup, he stepped up when starter Nick Starkel got injured in the season opener against UCLA. Mond threw for 105 yards and a touchdown in his first start, completing 12 of 21 passes.

By 2018, new head coach Jimbo Fisher named him the starter. Mond led the Aggies to an 8–4 record that year. The season peaked with a wild 74–72 win over LSU in seven overtimes. That game smashed records as the highest-scoring in FBS history and one of the longest ever played.
The 2019 season brought bigger expectations. Mond’s stats didn’t fully deliver, though his completion rate ticked up. He bounced back in 2020, hitting career highs with a 63.5% completion rate and 7.6 yards per attempt. The Aggies went 9–1, finishing fourth in the AP Poll. Mond capped his college run at the 2021 Senior Bowl, earning MVP honors.
At Texas A&M, he joined an exclusive club. He became one of three SEC quarterbacks, alongside Tim Tebow and Dak Prescott, to rack up over 9,000 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards.
The Minnesota Vikings picked him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His pro debut came in 2022 against Green Bay, where he threw for five yards in a brief stint. After bouncing between teams like the Browns, Colts, and Saints, he found a new home in 2024. Mond signed with the San Antonio Brahmas, bringing his talents back to his birthplace.
