Publicly known details of Keeler’s current contract don’t include a year-by-year breakdown, but based on known information, his salary averages $812,500 per year.
According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Keeler signed a four-year contract totaling $3.25 million ahead of the 2023 college football season, the first of Sam Houston’s transition to the FBS level. His previous deal was set to expire that June, though it was never likely that the Bearkats would embark on their FBS journey without their highly successful head coach.
Keeler has experienced success everywhere he’s been. He produced an 88-21-1 record at Rowan and an 86-52 record at Delaware. He also brought Sam Houston to the FCS playoffs multiple times and led their charge to the FBS level, recording a 3-9 record in their inaugural Conference USA campaign.
While incentives in the contract haven’t been made available, Keeler did mention when he signed the extension that they were “very makeable,” according to the Houston Chronicle. Like many other coaches, we can expect wins in a season, bowl game appearances, and conference championship appearances to be included in the contract.
