The Alabama Crimson Tide, coached by Kalen DeBoer, may have gotten their weaknesses exposed by their opponents, given their most recent loss. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, @CBSSportsCFB uploaded a video on X/Twitter, in which analyst Aaron Taylor shared his thoughts on the upcoming college football playoffs, including the Crimson Tide.
As it stands, the Crimson Tide is preparing for its 2025 postseason berth, but Taylor believes coach DeBoer’s team’s weaknesses will be fully exposed come the playoffs. Taylor mentioned some statistics, claiming that while Alabama starts its games strong, it struggles to close out games and chalk up losses.
“ In the second half’s this season, Alabama’s only 39% on third downs, where they’re 50% in the first half’s. But, here’s what’s really telling. In the three games, twice against Georgia, once against Oklahoma, only 14 total points in those three contests in the second half. The bottom line is against elite defenses Alabama’s getting outcoached, they’re getting outplayed, and I believe that happens again when they play Oklahoma,” Taylor said.

The Crimson Tide is set to face coach Brent Venables’ Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of this year’s college football playoffs on Dec. 19, on the latter’s home pitch, the Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. While the Crimson Tide is one of the top teams coming out of the SEC this year, the likes of Aaron Taylor believe that they will be eliminated from contention in the first round due to their late-game weaknesses.

The Alabama Crimson Tide Lost The 2025 SEC Championship Game By A Huge Margin
Unfortunately for coach Kalen DeBoer and the rest of the 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide, they are coming into the first round of this year’s college football playoffs without momentum, as they fared poorly in their conference’s last game.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, Alabama lost the 2025 SEC championship game by 21 points, 27-8, to the Georgia Bulldogs.
