Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer’s daughter Alexis is on her way to becoming the family’s next big superstar.
The freshman infielder became the first Washington Husky awarded Big Ten Softball’s Player of the Week award and helped the team extend their winning streak to nine.

Washington’s softball team crushed in the OUTRIGGER Invitational, defeating Hawaii 8-3 on Saturday afternoon at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Alexis DeBoer excelled in the invitational, batting .579 with 11 hits, two doubles, and three home runs, including her first career grand slam and 11 RBIs.

She has a .338 average, five doubles, and seven home runs this season. Her 25 RBIs rank 35th in the nation and fourth in the Big Ten.
Fellow Husky Stevie Hansen was named Pitcher of the Week, leading the pitching staff with 12.2 shutout innings, a 2-0 record, and a save in the Hawaii tournament, allowing only a .095 batting average. She set season highs in strikeouts twice, first with seven against Jackson State, then eight the next night versus Howard.
The senior has a 1.60 ERA on the season with a 4-0 record in 30.2 innings pitched. Her 0.73 WHIP ranks 10th in the country and first in the Big Ten.
The 15-7 Huskies head to Pocatello, Ida., on Saturday to face the Idaho State Bengals.
“Alexis has a pretty level head. With all that comes with being a daughter of a top football coach, but she’s capable of dealing with it,” Husky head coach Heather Tarr said during Big Ten Media Days.

“They’ve raised a great kid, and she’s fun to coach. She’s very coachable, and you can tell she’s been a part of a coaching family. She watches and learns; you tell her one thing, and she figures it out. It’s going to be fun to be able to coach her.”
