Calls Mount From Fans To ‘Bench’ Kaidon Salter As Ryan Staub Score vs Delaware

Colorado Buffaloes starting quarterback Kaidon Salter struggled in the season-opening loss against Georgia Tech. In his second game on Saturday against Delaware, the struggles continued, resulting in a rally cry from fans to bench him in favor of five-star recruit and freshman Julian Lewis.

In the first quarter, Salter struggled to complete the throws, resulting in fan reactions. The former Liberty Flames quarterback was even replaced by Lewis at one point in the game. But even Lewis didn’t see much action, and his rushing offense was not working, leading to the Buffaloes taking a bet on third-string quarterback Ryan Staub, who impressed immediately by leading a touchdown drive in the second quarter.

    “Bench Salter,” one fan wrote.

“Kaidon Salter is hurting Colorado’s offense. He’s constantly missing wide-open throws. I can’t take it anymore. Bench Dude,” another fan added.

“Salter can’t throw, put Juju in,” one fan wrote.

    “Bench Salter,” another fan wrote.

“Kaidon Salter is not what he was portrayed to be. START JUJU,” another fan wrote.

“Kaidon Salter better jump in that portal. A new Louie bag was found in the closet,” one fan wrote.

Kaidon Salter is abysmal, dude. Bench him after this game. Let JuJu Lewis ball out,” another fan added.

    Kaidon Salter’s shocking illness admission

Kaidon Salter didn’t seem like himself in the season opener against Georgia Tech. In the 27-20 loss, Salter completed 17 of 28 passes for one touchdown. Meanwhile, he scored a rushing touchdown as well while carrying the ball 13 times for 43 yards.

Before Saturday’s game, Salter revealed he played despite having a 102°F fever but acknowledged that it was no excuse to come up short in the game.

“I was sick after the game; I had a 102-degree fever,” Salter said. “I kind of played sick, but that’s no excuse for my play style that day.”

“There’s always room to improve throughout the game; really, this is my first P4 (Power Four) big-time game out here in Folsom Field,” Salter added. “But I feel like I went out there, and I tried to do the best that I could do. I went out there, and I executed the plays that the coach wanted me to execute. But still, there’s still room for improvement out there with the way the offense connects and runs things on game day.”

It remains to be seen if Salter finds his groove this season and proves Coach Prime right about his position as the team’s starting quarterback.
