It’s a new dawn in Boulder with Shedeur Sanders leaving the Colorado Buffaloes program to declare for the NFL Draft. He’s handing over the reins of quarterback duties into the capable hands of Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and five-star recruit Julian Lewis.
Meanwhile, head coach Deion Sanders has yet to announce who will succeed his son in the upcoming 2025 season. While Salter has the experience, Lewis has an exceptional recruiting pedigree following him from Carrollton High School.

Shedeur Sanders Works Out With Kaidon Salter
Ahead of the NFL Combine and 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders is spending as much time as possible in Colorado before he bids them goodbye. He’s often seen mingling with Boulder’s training facility and connecting with his former teammates after a successful 9-4 campaign that saw the program make its first Bowl appearance in a full season since 2016.
On Monday, Feb. 17, Shedeur’s brother, Deion Sanders Jr., captured him working out with Salter at the football center’s indoor facility. In the backdrop of workout music, both quarterbacks showcased their talent as they threw long passes to fellow receivers from several points of the field.

Kaidon Salter Confident in His New Role
On Feb. 4, “Well Off Media” uploaded a segment titled “Shedeur Did His Thing Now It’s MY TURN,” which featured the transfer from Liberty. Salter exuded confidence that he has all the skills to take the starting job in Colorado.
He shared his pride for Coach Prime as well. Salter said, “Shedeur did his thing here, but it’s time for me to come in and do what I got to do. … It’s time to start my own legacy here for my last year.
“The culture that Deion has brought here, from when Colorado was 1-11 to what we were last year at 9-4 and making a bowl game appearance, everything that they did, it stood on business.”
He also mentioned Lewis and said that he expects there to be healthy competition.
“No promises, all competition, and I’m willing to come in and compete,” Salter said in a separate interview with WFAA. Ju Ju is a younger guy, so they wanted somebody in the room who could mentor him and help him come into college and feel comfortable.
“They felt that I was that guy that can do that. (He’s) He is one of the best quarterbacks in his class. It’s all love over there, and it’ll be a great competition between us.”
