Colorado Buffaloes’ quarterback room is already one of the most intriguing storylines of the season, and Week 2 against Delaware State only added to the buzz. The Buffaloes picked up a convincing 31–7 win, with multiple quarterbacks getting time.
Kaidon Salter started the game and set the tone early, while Ryan Staub provided fireworks later with two long touchdown passes. Freshman Julian Lewis also made his highly anticipated debut, stepping onto the field in the second quarter.
Lewis, who reclassified early to join Colorado at just 17 years old, finished his first outing with two completions on four attempts for eight yards.
While his debut was quiet on the stat sheet, it was still a milestone moment, marking his official start as part of the Buffaloes program. He became the third youngest player for the Buffaloes in the last two decades.
Salter celebrated Lewis’ debut on his Instagram story by resharing a post by flicksbyzan. He tagged Lewis on the story and wrote:
“Twin.”

For a player who entered college with massive expectations, simply getting on the field in front of a packed home crowd was an important first step. The show of support comes at a time when Colorado is balancing the growth of a young phenom with the leadership of more experienced players.

Deion Sanders Wasn’t Pleased with Colorado’s Performance at Halftime
At halftime against Delaware, the Buffs were up 17-7. Overall, it was an impressive performance with one half of the game left. However, Deion Sanders wasn’t happy as he believed they had so much more to offer on the field.
When the team was inside the locker room at halftime, Coach Prime took center stage to tell his players how he felt about their performance. For someone so used to dominating the game, Coach Prime knew exactly what would motivate his players.
“We winning the game, but do you feel good about it? Why [don’t you feel good about it?] Because we’re not dominating…I’m proud of y’all, but I ain’t totally proud of y’all because I know better. We’re supposed to be dominant in this game, and we’re not dominant,” Coach Prime said. (20:30)
Coach Prime’s speech worked well for Colorado Buffaloes as they didn’t allow the Delaware State to add any points on the board in the second half. The game ended 31-7, and Sanders’ squad showed dominance on both ends.
