Justice Haynes Injury Update: Is Michigan RB Playing Today vs. Washington

Michigan Wolverines running back Justice Haynes has been a strong offensive force for the team this season. In six games, he has 95 carries for 705 yards and eight TDs. He is part of the reason the team has been able to stay competitive in the Big Ten. However, in the lead-up to the Wolverines’ game against the Washington Huskies on Saturday, his status is unclear.

In the Wolverines’ loss to USC last week, Haynes left with an abdominal injury. According to insider Pete Nakos, Haynes is expected to be a game-time decision.

“Michigan running back Justice Haynes is expected to be a game-time decision tomorrow against Washington, sources tell On3 Sports. Exited the USC game with an abdominal injury. Ranks No. 5 in the nation with 705 rushing yards.”

Kickoff for Michigan vs Washington is at Noon ET on Saturday.

    Is Justice Haynes Hurt?

Yes, Justice Haynes is dealing with an abdominal injury. However, that does not necessarily mean he will miss the team’s game on Saturday. Head coach Sherrone Moore spoke optimistically about Haynes after the USC game, even indicating he could have gone back into the game if necessary. However, the team showed caution in keeping him out.

“Yeah, just something in his side,” Sherrone Moore said. “He came out and was working through it. Probably could’ve went. Extra cautious on student athletes when anything happens to them. Going to make sure they’re okay, but the game plan was the same.”

If Haynes is unable to play, it will be a big hit to the Wolverines’ offense. Regardless, they will need to find a way to win on Saturday. The team has a 2-1 conference record, which is keeping it in championship contention. However, two losses will likely knock the Wolverines too far down the standings to contend. So, it is a must-win game on Saturday for both teams.
