Julian Lewis sends 2-word comment to rival Colorado QB Kaidon Salter amid Deion Sanders’ training camp

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has a much more complicated quarterback situation than he is used to. In previous years, it was clear that his son, Shedeur Sanders, would be the starter. However, Shedeur is now with the Cleveland Browns as he prepares for the first season of his NFL career.

In Colorado, the starting quarterback will either be freshman Julian Lewis or Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter. Both players were brought in during the offseason to compete for the starting job. Salter has more experience, and as a result, is expected to have the advantage in the QB battle, even if Lewis is the QB of the future in Colorado.

While the two players have a rivalry with each other, they appear to be friendly. On Saturday, Salter posted an image of the two QBs together on the football field with a two-word caption.

    “Evil twin,” Kaidon Salter wrote.

Lewis then reposted the image to his Instagram story with a two-word caption of his own.

    “The coldest,” Julian Lewis wrote.

Deion Sanders’ Offensive Coordinator Delivers His Take on the Colorado QB Battle

The QB battle in Colorado is one of the closest ones in the nation. The coaching staff are not expected to make a final decision on the Week 1 starter for a few weeks. On Friday, while speaking with the media, Deion Sanders’ offensive coordinator, Pat Shurmur, spoke about the quarterback battle.

“We as coaches owe it to our fans, our team and everybody out there to play the very best players,” Shurmur said. “In reality, in terms of the quarterback, both guys could be our very best players. So then, we’ll have to work something out. In the meantime, we just keep working with them and those decisions will be made behind the scenes. Coach (Deion Sanders) will have to deal with all of that.”

Deion Sanders also spoke about the QB battle during his appearance at the Big 12 media days last month. he talked about how he was not sure which one of them is going to start. He spoke about wanting to develop Julian Lewis, but also said that the team would start the best quarterback. So, if Lewis emerges as the top QB, it does not appear that Sanders will hesitate to play him.

The Colorado Buffaloes will start their 2025 season on Aug. 29 with a game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
