Julian Lewis Drops Blunt 4-Word Message as Colorado’s Top Recruit Sees Limited Playing Time Amid Starting QB Battle With Kaidon Salter, Ryan Staub

The Colorado Buffaloes have been struggling at the moment, with Deion Sanders’ team losing its second Big 12 game against the BYU Cougars over the weekend. While Kaidon Salter took center stage again as the team’s starter, his performance was again lackluster as he only threw 119 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 49 yards, with one rushing touchdown, which kind of mitigates it.

The starting position for the Buffaloes still doesn’t seem settled, as none of the quarterbacks has so far proven to be at the level necessary to be a reliable Power Four starter. Ryan Staub’s performance against Houston a couple of weeks back was even worse than Kaidon Salter’s.

There’s a third variable to this equation, which is former five-star recruit Julian Lewis, who is the signal-caller to have seen the least action so far this season. And it seems that the true freshman is happy waiting for his chance.

In his latest X post, Lewis wrote:

    “Blessed to be Buff #SkoBuffs”

It seems that despite the current poor form of the program, spirits are high among some of the players. At least Julian Lewis seems still committed to the path charted for him by Deion Sanders.

Lewis has only appeared in six snaps for the Buffaloes this season, and has only completed two passes for a total of 8 passing yards and -3.5 rushing yards. He has also been sacked once. Nothing extremely out of place for a true freshman at a Power Four program.

Colorado’s Deion Sanders Is a Prime Candidate To Replace Sam Pittman

After a 56-13 defeat to Notre Dame in his last game, Sam Pittman became the first coach to get the boot in 2025. The Arkansas Razorbacks gave him the boot and named offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino their interim coach.

The Hogs are expected to name a new coach, and according to Pete Nakos of On3, Deion Sanders could be a prime candidate for the job:

“Another sitting Power Four head coach to know is Colorado head coach Deion Sanders,” Nakos wrote recently.

“He previously interviewed for the Arkansas job when Yurachek was in the process of hiring Pittman,” he added. “He has brought the Buffaloes back to relevancy and has made multiple top-25 appearances the last two years. Yurachek was impressed by Sanders previously. Sanders leaving for Arkansas is unlikely; another question will be salary. He just signed a new extension increasing his base salary to $10 million in 2025 and rising to $12 million by 2029.”

The Razorbacks have shown signs of having what it takes to take the next step, for example, when they defeated then-No. 4 Tennessee last year. Earlier this season, it seemed like an upset over then No. 17 Ole Miss was within their grasp until they lost the ball through a fumble at the Rebels 27-yard line with 1:52 on the clock.

A touchdown would’ve won the game. Similarly, they lost a game the following week against the Memphis Tigers by letting a fumble deprive them of a last-minute touchdown while being a couple of yards away from the endzone.
