“People Have Done Horrible Things”: Joy Taylor Gets Vulnerable About Dating Red Flags While Sharing Romantic Goals

Months after being named in a Fox Sports lawsuit, sports commentator Joy Taylor appeared on Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday” podcast, where she talked about her FS1 exit over alleged sexual misconduct and several other things.

She also discussed with Newton some dating insights when the host brought up the topic. Taylor said that while she’s open to dating, she doesn’t want to be in a public relationship, given her past.

“I don’t want to be in a public relationship. I’ve done it before, and it wasn’t a good experience for me. I don’t enjoy it,” she admitted (1:57:55).

When talking about what she looks for, she says safety and emotional trust in a partner. Taylor said:

“I have to show up so masculine all the time… But when I’m with a man, I want to be soft. I want to be the pretty princess who doesn’t know how to use the door, and you provide the masculine energy. There’s a kindness in a man who knows how to show up for a woman that way.” (2:00:27)

Meanwhile, when it comes to red flags, Joy Taylor spoke about the kind of personality she’s after.

“Somebody consistent. Somebody kind. Somebody disciplined and passionate. And somebody who didn’t vote for Trump,” she said. But really, I’m an energy person. I need to feel the energy between us, and I need to feel safe.”

Continuing with her non-negotiables, Taylor said she is okay with dating someone who has children, but she doesn’t want to date those who have “baby mama issues.”

“I don’t like time wasters. I don’t want kids. I’ve been saying it for years—I don’t want children,” she added. “I love kids; I’m the fun auntie, but no kids for me. Could I date someone with kids? Yes—but not with baby mama drama. Co-parenting has to be in check. I’m not signing up for drama.” (2:02:19)

    She added:

“Also, how you speak about your exes is important. Even if they did you wrong, there’s a respectful way to talk about people you were once intimate with. That shows me how you view relationships.

“You should have a respect for even the people that did you wrong cuz people have done horrible things to me.”

What went down between Joy Taylor and FS1 leading to her departure?

Joy Taylor hosted “Speak,” which was canceled by Fox in July along with two other shows due to low viewership. Earlier this year, she was named in a lawsuit filed by makeup artist Noushin Faraji against FS1 executive Charlie Dixon, alleging sexual misconduct. In her lawsuit, Faraji alleges that she approached Taylor about Dixon’s behavior, but the host dismissed those concerns.

Meanwhile, Taylor has denied any wrongdoing. Several speculations were made that her firing months later of the lawsuit suggested that FS1 might have taken her out because of the lawsuit. However, Taylor has shut down those rumors, saying there was no such case.
