Penn State, after firing their former head coach James Franklin almost two months ago, has yet to decide on a new head coach, as their troubles keep on getting worse as far as the vacant head coach position is concerned.
College Football Analyst Josh Pate on his show made his position clear on the whole Penn State coaching debacle, calling it a “disaster,” a sentiment a lot of Penn State fans seem to agree with, as per Pate.
“The Penn State coaching search is a disaster. My Penn State brethren are saying it, even if they have never agreed with me on who they should hire Pate began saying on his show,” Pate began saying on his show (0:00).
Pate also highlighted how Penn State’s newest potential head coach candidate, Kalani Sitake, is going to continue coaching Brigham Young University despite chat around his move to the Nittany Lions.
We need more HC’s in CFB like Kalani Sitake.
BYU alumni. Starter from 1998-2000.
Basically adopted by BYU/State of Utah has spent 20+ seasons coaching the state and going on a decade in Provo.

Pate, referencing his previous conversation around Sitake potentially taking over the Penn State gig, emphasized how he thought Penn State was aggressively pursuing the BYU head coach but to no avail. Kalani will now continue to coach BYU, helping the Utah-based side in their conference championship game this weekend.
However, one thing out of this whole saga did not sit right with Pate: the fact that Penn State supposedly thought that Sitake was not the right fit, a narrative that the college football analyst does not agree with, calling it “overrated.”
“There were a lot of questions about how good a fit he would be. Fit is a very overrated term in coaching searches,” Pate explained (0:38).
The Nittany Lions fired James Franklin, a mainstay who was with the program for 12 seasons, on October 12 and have been on the hunt for his replacement ever since. With Penn State trying to find an apt fit for their head coach replacement, it will be interesting to see how long the hunt will continue.

Sitake Signs Long-Term Extension With BYU Ahead Of Crucial Texas Tech Matchup
With the Penn State rumors defunct now, Sitake will now lead BYU against Texas Tech in a Big 12 championship game with a long-term contract extension. The winner of the game on Saturday will qualify for the College Football Playoffs.
Along with Sitake’s new contract extension with BYU, his counterpart head coach Joey McGuire has also inked a new $7 million-per-year contract ahead of their crucial Big 12 fixture.
Sitake has been BYU’s coach since 2016, with an overall record of 11-1 so far this campaign.
