TCU quarterback Josh Hoover is coming off a tremendous season where he completed 313 of 471 passing attempts for 3949 yards and 27 TDs. His performance has made many fans and analysts excited for what he can do next season. There are some who believe he can grow into one of the best QBs in the nation.
While Hoover receives praise from fans and analysts, none of that is likely as meaningful to him as the praise he gets from his coach, Sonny Dykes. Dykes, who is worth $45 million, has been the coach of the TCU Horned Frogs since 2022 and has a long history of coaching dating back to the 90s. As a result, he has seen many of his players develop into NFL stars over the years.
On Friday, ESPN insider Pete Thamel posted an article talking about Josh Hoover and the praise he has received. In the article, Dykes called Hoover a Super Bowl MVP-caliber quarterback.
“We’ve been lucky to coach some good ones,” Dykes said. “And a couple of first picks in the draft and a Super Bowl MVP and some guys that are pretty good players. And he throws it as good as any of ’em.” He also put out an X post about this.
TCU coach Sonny Dykes has coached a Super Bowl MVP and two No. 1 NFL Draft picks. He thinks Josh Hoover throws as well as any of them. Can the TCU quarterback piggyback off a stellar 2024 and become a national household name this fall? https://t.co/0qVJGLktCG

Josh Hoover Speaks About His Legacy at TCU
In the article, Josh Hoover also spoke about his legacy as a quarterback for the TCU Horned Frogs. While he enjoys receiving individual accolades, he stated that he would prefer to be remembered as a player who brought a Big 12 championship to TCU.
“I want to be remembered as winning a Big 12 championship, winning the national championship and then, even more, just being a guy that people can count on,” Hoover said. “Just being somebody that is true to their word and someone that’s just had a great character and loyalty and would do anything for their teammates.”
Hoover and the Horned Frogs will kick off their season on Monday, September 1, against the North Carolina Tar Heels. It should be a highly viewed game as it will be the college debut of legendary NFL quarterback Bill Belichick as he starts his first season in the NCAA. It will be an important game for the Horned Frogs to pick up if they want to compete for the Big 12 championship next season.
