After firing Billy Napier, many foresaw that there would be an exodus of players from Florida, starting with QB1 DJ Lagway. With Jon Sumrall coming in as his replacement, however, few foresaw that the exodus of players would be bigger than they had previously expected. This means that Sumrall would be dipping into the transfer portal even more than expected to recoup all those transfer portal losses.
The latest Gators player to announce his departure via the transfer portal is true freshman EDGE Jayden Woods, who played in all 12 games and had 28 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception, earning Freshman All-SEC honors. His departure has many Florida fans reeling:

“Does FL even have a team? 😂” one person asked.
“This years portal is the deepest ever. It’s about to be a bidding war for the top guy 😂😂,” another commenter joked.
“Im not sure if the department of justice could clean out Floridas roster this thoroughly,” said another person.
“Tulane coach running ALL THE GOOD PLAYERS AWAY,” one commenter pointed out.
“Can someone explain to me what’s the purpose of keeping your D line coach if he can’t retain his potential star player?” another fan pointed out.
“This sucks cause he was starting to play really good as the season went on. We’ll best of luck 🙏🏽🙏🏽,” another disappointed fan commented.

Aside from Lagway, the Gators have lost plenty of promising players, including redshirt sophomore RB KD Daniels. WR Tank Hawkins, TE Hayden Hansen, Safety Jordan Castell, DB Sharif Denson and many more. More are also expected to leave.

Report: Jon Sumrall May Still Be Able To Flip Players Who Have Declared For The Transfer Portal
With a lot of players already leaving Florida, Jon Sumrall may be able to flip one of those players who have declared for the transfer portal. Wide receiver Vernell Brown III has already re-signed with the program last week, which is a good sign, and one transfer portal player may still join him in re-signing.
According to AZ Sports, that player is Jayden Woods, the latest to enter the transfer portal. There is reportedly some talk of Sumrall still being able to flip him. This happened after tight end Amir Jackson re-signed with the team after announcing for the transfer portal.
