It’s no secret that Johnny Manziel’s time with the Cleveland Browns was not an experience either side would like to remember. He came in as one of the best players in college football at the time, but the heights of fame seemed too much for Manziel to handle, and poor on-field performances were paired with scandals off the field.
However, it seems that for Manziel, the blame is entirely on the Browns’ camp. Speaking this week on Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson’s podcast “Nightcap”, the former Texas A&M Aggie said:
“I think I will always be looked at and viewed at because of how much hype and media and everything that was around me, and the city of Cleveland expecting me to be great, and that ultimately not panning out. I sit here today and I’m like, ‘F*ck it, I think I’m going to be pissed at them and hate them forever.’ So, it is what it is, man. No love for the Browns, I’m rooting for 0-16 seasons every season.”
Yikes: Former Browns QB Johnny Manziel says that he HATES Cleveland and hopes that the Browns go winless every season.
“I root for a 0 and 16 season, every season.” 😳

Fans quickly reacted to the comment, with some calling out the retired quarterback on his mistakes:
“Maybe don’t show up in your first week asking bartenders for coke, and not being able to practice because your body is still loaded with coke and alcohol… But sure, blame Cleveland. Way to grow up, John,” wrote one fan.
“What did Cleveland do to you? It’s our fault you partied instead of caring about football,” complained another person.
“I hope Johnny finds the help he needs. he just shows more and more of the signs of somebody who is a true addict. never accepts accountability, blames others for his shortcomings. the sad thing is that he hasn’t truly hit rock bottom yet and idk if he’ll learn until he does,” said a fan who seemed resigned to see Manziel fail to take accountability.
“😂 this dude never grew up and looks and is acting like he never stopped doing cocaine,” joked someone.
A few fans did support Manziel’s view.
“Can’t say I blame the kid,” said one fan.
“Cleveland was and is known as the graveyard of quarterbacks,” claimed one person.

What were Johnny Manziel’s numbers with the Cleveland Browns?
Johnny Manziel was selected 22nd overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft. Through two seasons in the NFL, Johnny Manziel appeared in 14 games and started in eight. He recorded 1,675 passing yards, with seven touchdown passes and as many interceptions. Manziel’s completion percentage was a very poor 57%.
These low numbers, paired with his off-field partying scandals, led to the team cutting him during the offseason of 2016.
